Mobile Monopoly Review: Is Mobile Marketing the Money-Maker You've Been Seeking? 2 of 2

There's A Reason the Clicks are "Cheap."

At the end of the day, despite the promises of dirt-cheap traffic, in practice it’s not all that cheap. I didn’t find any “3 cent clicks,” despite this being the implied norm. In my experience, the only way to get a lot of traffic was to pay 10 cents, 15 cents, even 20 cents or more. Now admittedly, this is still inexpensive by Google Adwords and other PPC network standards. But it does start to add up – and flies in the face of one of the major selling points of the course.

So, there’s also no doubt you can get a lot of clicks very fast. Depending on your budget and the niche you’re promoting (and the effectiveness of your banner/headline, of course), you can get hundreds or even thousands of exposures per hour, and a fraction of those as clicks. Fortunately, on networks like AdMob (now owned by Google), you only pay for the clicks. However, knowing AdWords and Google, my suspicion is that you are penalized on price for low Click Thru Rates (CTR). Even if this is not the case at this moment, you can bet it’s coming.

But there’s another problem here, and it’s a big one. This not in any way, shape or form targeted traffic!

Part of the reason the traffic is so cheap is that it is non-targeted, generalized traffic. It does have the advantage of being geo-targetable and targetable by demographic. That helps. You can target a youth-oriented woman’s weight loss product specifically at 18-24 year old females, for instance. You can even target specific times of day, if you want.

But in my experience, it doesn’t much matter. The problem is that these are what I call “looky-loo” traffic – at best. Most are not really that interested in what you have to offer. They’re clicking because they’re bored.

Beyond that, because “e-commerce” is still in it’s infancy on mobile devices, people are hesitant to spend (just as they were in the early days of the Internet). Beyond this, because of the small screens, all but .mobi sites are hard to read and use, further reducing the likelihood of making a sale or even getting a sign up.

We Will Help You... But It Won't Help You!

My suspicion is that it goes to a fundamental problem with all these courses. I’ve seen it before with the lamentable (real truly awful – nearly criminally so) Cell Phone Cash, Rapid Mass Traffic, Copy ‘n’ Profit and many other systems like it. To wit: even if the specific technique shown works for a handful of people, once hundreds or even thousands see it and copy it – it’s dead!

Competition goes up, driving ad prices up. Soon, the small guys have no chance of making any money and even the big guys are sweating it.

So, this is the double-edged sword of so many programs today. Assuming that the “proven campaigns” they provide to customers are valid – and there’s no way to know that, in most cases – it simply won’t last for long. One must simply take them at their word that the campaign they’re talking about is good and jump in feet first – hopefully before everybody else in the course does likewise. Unfortunately, if the campaign is good, it soon won’t be.

In the case of Mobile Monopoly, Adam Horwitz frequently touts how great these campaigns are (“you’ll kill it”), but shows no proof whatsoever. Not good.

Based on the fact that my experience was very poor, and the fact that others in the Warrior Forum and elsewhere are reporting the same thing, I don’t believe this course is worth the cost, trouble and effort – particularly for beginners – despite the fact that this the ostensible target market.

Mobile Monopoly techniques might work for those with the time and budget to do a lot of testing. But since this was not how the course was marketed and sold, I cannot recommend it at this time. In fact, I would recommend all but the most dedicated (or perhaps masochistic) stay away from Mobile Monopoly.
