In an age of blipverts and soundbytes, I sometimes wonder whether I'm throwing pearls before swine. Even article directory sites like EzineArticles (where I'm an Expert Author) are telling us to write short pieces – 500-600 words max.
It seems that most folks in our ADD-driven, limited attention span world simply don't have the time or patience for anything but the "reader's digest version." Unfortunately, today even that would be considered "too damn long."
Sigh...

Well, call me old school, but I don't think that's enough space to write anything worth reading! I mean, you can't give an "in depth" anything in 500-600 words. Period. Hell, it takes 200-300 words to lay the ground work laid and get your introduction done. And then, Gawd forbid, if you want to write with panache and style...
Well, forget about it, Pard!
So, call me verbose, call me loquacious, call me long-winded, but my pieces take a few minutes to read. Gasp! Guess what, they take a helluva lot longer to write!
Does anybody actually appreciate 'em? Does even my old friend/arch nemesis Google care? Who the hell knows? All I know is, I can only write 'em the way I think they need to be writ, and let the chips fall where they may...
As always, I welcome your thoughts, comments, feedback and input. But you know what they used to say: "If you can't say somethin' nice (or at least constructive), don't say it!"
